Giuseppe Linardi

Giuseppe Linardi was born in Buenos Aires in 1971. Very young he moved to Follonica, in Tuscany, where he lives and works. He attended the Art School of Grosseto and graduated from the Academy of Fine Art in Florence. Although the first phase of the artist’s work was devoted to Hyperrealism, his style has developed into a more spontaneous manner, passing through various techniques and subjects: from still lifes and landscapes to large hyperrealistic portraits, from dripping painting techniques to sculptures and installations.

In recent years, fully convinced that every idea should be developed through appropriate means, the artist has been carrying out various projects, always moving on the border between abstraction and figuration.

Today, “decoding” is the keyword for the artist’s pictorial work. The images he painted in the past, trying to make them as real as possible, almost palpable, are now dissected, dismembered and reduced to the limit of figuration. That painting, so perfect, carried out in an almost maniacal way, now explodes and shatters into brushstrokes. These signs of schizophrenia, called “codes” by the artist himself (hence the name “decoding” given to his technique), are the constitutive elements of his new artistic research. It is a painting technique which allows him to paint more freely than in the past, when he sticked to the rules of academic hyperrealistic painting. His present technique is the result of long-term research, experimentation on subjects, deconstruction and reconstruction of images.

All the images he paints with this technique require a deep reading skills, a visual effort that is rewarded by the discovery of the subject, which is slowly revealed and continuously enriched with new details. Giuseppe Linardi artworks are a not-to-be-missed optical experience. His bright canvases are sources of optical sensations as disconcerting as magic-eye pictures or interactive screens.

In front of his paintings the viewers get mesmerized by the decoding of the signs that take them back to the chaos of certain aspects of daily lives. The artist’s clever pigment manipulation transforms static images into vibrant animations which become metaphors for the intricate design of the universe.

Boscolo Hotel - 8 Maggio 2015

Nella splendida cornice dell’hotel di design Boscolo Milano, in un’atmosfera unica e lussuosa, Paola Sermidi, direttrice creativa e fondatrice di Luxus Milano, presenta un’installazione veramente impattante, il cui “fil rouge” è la ricerca dell’eccellenza nei diversi campi. 

Obiettivo: dare vita a una gallery di presenza scenica che rimarrà poi esposta presso gli spazi del Boscolo per tutto il mese di maggio e sarà sublimata e amplificata dalle bellissime tele di Linardi, dalle opere uniche ed inconfondibili di Capotondi, e dalla splendida scultura “ La Trapezista” di Du Barry esposte per creare una magica installazione.

Un’esposizione interattiva e coinvolgente, dove design, moda, arte e fashion si incontrano in un’esperienza unica e inaspettata, in equilibrio tra passato e futuro. Un percorso emozionale, creato ad hoc per esplorare i processi creativi dei diversi “attori” presenti alla serata. A testimoniare la titolarità dell’iniziativa avremo anche dei partner quali Roncoroni Moretti, azienda storica nell’arredo su misura per dimore private e contract di lusso, la Luxus Architecture & Interior ed una sfilata della stilista Elena Savò, nota per le sue “trasformazioni” del denim, e Emanuela Sermidi stilista di Gioielli.

Villa Rotshild

By virtue of birth and then her marriage, Madame Ephrussi would become one of the greatest collectors of her time. Daughter of Baron Alphonse de Rothschild, she grew up in Château de Ferrières and it was here that she was introduced to art in the form of James de Rothschild’s fabulous collection.
In 1883, she married Maurice Ephrussi ("Frousse", as she affectionately called him) and became part of a family of bankers and wheat exporters originating from Odessa, who were themselves collectors and friends of the Rothschilds. One of her husband’s cousins was none other than Charles Ephrussi, patron of the impressionists.
In building the Villa, she combined the talents of a wide range of experts and businessmen, who were family friends. They must have provided her with excellent and effective advice judging from the rooms on display here. So began her exhilarating and discerning search across the globe and these searches bore fruit: the Baroness ordered works to be brought to Beaulieu by train and made her selection on the station platform. In fact, one day, she bought chapel ruins only to keep one fresco!
In the course of her travels, as well as her passion for art, she indulged her love of nature. Verona, Florence, Venice to name but a few, everything fascinated her, from exotic gardens to deserts. So it was natural, in the same way as she surrounded herself with works of art, that she should make the Villa a reflection of her many interests.
Somewhere between good taste and fantasy, the Baroness lived her life, being such a pretty, extravagant flower herself. Béatrice Ephrussi would greet suppliers, dressed completely in pink from her silk parasol down to the tip of her boots; even including her crocodile skin handbag. Pink, more pink, everywhere pink.
A villa built in rose pink, every room had to be pink like the mythical rose itself. Madame Ephrussi worshipped this colour. After all, her villa in Monte Carlo was even called "Rose de France". Elisabeth de Gramont described her as follows: "She was beautiful and from the age of twenty, her hair turned white making her look as if she had been dusted with powder. She almost always wore pink gowns and seemed to be eternally on the verge of leaving for a lavish ball."

Villa Balbianello - Como lake

Villa Balbianello, an 18th century villa with exquisite terraced gardens, is part of the National Trust of Italy. It was built in 1787 on the southern edge of Lake Como. Highlights are a pretty chapel with two bell towers overlooking the lake and directly accessible from the harbor, beautifully decorated rooms with Beauvais tapestries and Ming dynasty porcelain, stone stairways and lovely views from any direction. Palazzo Barbaro

The Palazzi Barbaro (plural) is made up of two adjacent buildings. The one on the left was built in 1425, Gothic in style, and is the one owned (in part) by the Curtis family. 
The one on the right is more Baroque (possibly 16th or 17th century). 

In 1881 Daniel and Ariana Curtis rented the upper story apartments of which they eventually bought in 1885. Their son, Raph Curtis studied painting with Sargent in Paris. Sargent's father was a cousin of Daniel Curtis. During their stay, the Curties' would receive visitors -- many expatriate Americans with Harvard or Boston connections such as Isabella Stewart Gardner, Vernon Lee, Henry James (who would model the Barbaro for his charater Milly Theale's palazzo in his book The Wings of the Dove),and John Singer Sargent (who painted the Curtises' in the opulent Ballroom).

Villa Kerylos

On the shores of the Mediterranean, between Nice and Monaco, the Grecian Villa Kerylos is one of the most extraordinary sites on the French Riviera.

he period the French call the “Belle Epoque”, and is a quite unique an re-creation of an ancient Grecian dwelling, complete with wall decorations and furniture.

It stands as the tribute to Greek civilization of two great enthusiasts for Ancient Greece:

Theodore Reinach, an archaeologist and patron of the arts, and Emmanuel Pontremoli, an inspired architect.

Based on the design of noble houses built in the 2nd century BC on the Island of Delos, the Villa Kerylos invites visitors to step right back into Ancient Greece.

The arrangement of rooms to the stylistic details of the decor, was designed to recreate the atmosphere of a luxurious Grecian villa.

The garden contains a pleasing mixture of typically Greek plants: olive trees and vines, pomegranate and carob trees, acanthus and myrtle, oleanders and irises, pine and cypress

trees, palm trees and papyrus all help to create Mediterranean sunshine.

THE PERYSTILE

At the heart of the villa, open to the sky, painted with ancient style frescoes relating to famous episodes in Greek mythology.
